Important Collaboration Announcement & Pro Bono Opportunities

Dear Members,

The Cape Town Attorneys Association (CTAA) is thrilled to announce a collaborative initiative with ProBono.Org. We hope to support ProBono.Org in the amazing work they do. By doing so, the CTAA aims to affirm our commitment to community upliftment and ensuring access to social justice for all.

Collaboration with ProBono.Org

ProBono.Org is a respected NPO recognised by the Legal Practice Council, dedicated to providing pro bono legal services to vulnerable and marginalised individuals. Through this collaboration, our members have a unique opportunity to fulfil their pro bono requirements while making a significant impact in the lives of those in need.

Staff Legal Clinics at Bonteheuwel Civic Centre

We are inviting our members to volunteer for staffing legal clinics hosted by ProBono.Org, scheduled to be held at the Bonteheuwel Civic Centre, on the following dates from 09h00 to 13h00:

• Monday, 10 June 2024

• Monday, 15 July 2024

• Monday, 19 August 2024

Get Involved

Members interested in volunteering for any of the above dates or who have specific skills to offer ProBono.Org (even if unavailable for the clinics) are encouraged to email info@ctaa.capetown to indicate your interest.

Pro Bono Requirements Reminder

Please remember, practising legal practitioners are required to complete a minimum of 40 community service hours annually, and candidate legal practitioners must perform at least 8 hours. Participating in these clinics not only helps fulfil these requirements but also directly contributes to community upliftment and social justice.

ProBono.Org’s Offerings

By joining the ProBono.Org panel, legal practitioners can choose their involvement level, select areas of law they are interested in, or have experience with, and participate in free training webinars to enhance their skills.

Your Contribution Matters

This initiative goes beyond fulfilling legal obligations and "doing your 40 hours"- it's about making a substantial difference in the lives of those who need it most. The good deeds done in society in the past, would not have been done had someone not initiated it. Your participation is crucial in our collective effort to improve access to justice for those who need it in South Africa.
